Phineas Phrog Productions is a vibrant company that specialises in family entertainment. We delight in creating colourful characters and stories guaranteed to put a smile on faces from 1 year to 101 years. We began life in 2002 with our highly popular production of the “Frog Prince” at the Bruce Mason Centre, and 2009 marks our 25th production there! Owned and operated by Sarah Somerville, Phineas Phrog employs a team of professional actors and creatives who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to our wide variety of projects. Phineas has gone missing! Can you help us find him on every page?

Phineas Phrog is a googley-eyed Chihuahua, who has been known to tread the boards in some of our fairy tales. His career highlights include Old Mother Hubbard’s dog in "Hansel and Gretel" and Ratty in "Sleeping Beauty". He dedicates his performances to long time buddy Sir Humphrey!

Sarah Somerville (Managing Director)

Sarah completed her Postgraduate training in London at Mountview Theatre Conservatorium. As an actor, Sarah has worked extensively around New Zealand in theatre and television. Of the over thirty professional productions she has appeared in, her favourite roles include Lady Windermere, Audrey from ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and Thumbelina! Her children’s plays have been produced by the Court Theatre in Christchurch and Kidzstuff in Wellington.

Phineas Phrog (Muse)

Phin is a champagne-coloured fluffy Chihuahua who quacks like a duck, loves licking toes and playing with his alien buddy, Belle.

Anna Hartley (Production Manager)

Anna joins us with a background in English language teaching and educational publishing. After gaining her Masters at Stirling University, Scotland she worked at Oxford University Press, Routledge in London, and Edinburgh University Press before returning home to NZ. Her little girl is our most valuable consultant.

Lee Somerville (Wardrobe Manager)

Where would we be without Mum! After years of sewing tutus for Sarah, Lee has turned her creative skills to constructing the brilliant and bizarre costumes required to bring our shows to life. She has given up countless hours supporting and encouraging (and even selling colouring-in books!).
